Position: Engineering Plant Manager – Hazardous Waste Processing Plant
Salary: £60,000 – £70,000 per annum, plus laptop, pension, and phone
We are currently seeking a skilled and experienced Engineering Plant Manager for a Hazardous Waste Processing Plant located in Baldock. The facility plays a critical role in the safe and efficient processing of hazardous waste, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and maintaining high safety and quality standards. This is a unique opportunity for a dedicated professional to lead a dynamic team and optimize the performance of the plant.
As the Engineering Plant Manager, you will take on a pivotal role in overseeing the operations of a hazardous waste processing and collection facility. You will be responsible for managing a diverse team comprising drivers, administrators, and operatives – approximately 20 individuals in total. Your primary goal will be to drive operational excellence, ensuring that the facility operates efficiently, safely, and in adherence to environmental and quality protocols.
Lead and manage a team of drivers, administrators, and operatives.
Drive the overall performance and productivity of the hazardous waste processing plant.
Maintain ISO accreditations and uphold safety, quality, and environmental standards, with support from the SHEQ Manager.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize plant processes and implement improvements.
Ensure compliance with environmental regulations, including emissions standards.
Deliver training and foster a culture of teamwork and safety.
Oversee budgetary responsibilities and ideally have experience with P&L management.
Utilize experience with PLC/DCS/SCADA/SAP systems to enhance operational efficiency (preferred).
Qualifications and Experience:
Proven track record in hazardous waste treatment, clinical waste, or related production roles.
Experience in engineering management, maintenance management, plant management, or operations management.
Ideally, previous P&L responsibility for a maintenance budget.
Strong background in heavy industry or heavy manufacturing environments.
Familiarity with environmental legislation and regulations.
Knowledge of PLC/DCS/SCADA/SAP systems (advantageous).
WAMITAB COTC4 certification (or willingness to undergo training).
NEBOSH, IOSH, and business management qualifications are welcomed.
Demonstrated stability in previous people management roles.
